Abstract

112,818. Halliday, G. Jan. 25, 1917. Crutches.-The crutch is provided with a rocking armpit-support, with resilient buffers, a handgrip supported upon helical springs within the double side members of the crutch, and with an adjustment for length of a known type. Fig. 1 shows the rocking armpit-support a pivoted at b, with the resilient-parts d. attached to the sides c of the cup-shaped top of the crutch, against which the stem e of the rocking-support can bear. The hand-grip l, Fig. 3, has screwed thereto at each end a lug k, projecting through a slot g into the interior of the tubular frame f of the crutch, where it bears upon the helical spring h supported by a fixed transverse plate i. At their lower ends, the two side bars unite in a central tube n, taking over a solid foot piece o having a rack-plate p, Fig. 4, with which engage corresponding projections upon a locking-plate q, adapted to be secured in a position in a slot of the tube by means of screws after the tube and foot-piece have been adjusted for the height required.
