1,123,139. Hollow multi-component filaments. CHEMIEFASERWERK SCHWARZA " WILHELM PIECK" VEB. 19 May, 1967, No. 23299/67. Heading B5B. Multi-component filaments of synthetic high polymers and in which the individual components may be in side-by-side or sheath-core arrangement, are characterized by having one or more hollow capillaries running their length which account for 15-25% of the total crosssection of the filaments. The filaments may be of round or profiled cross-section and are produced by spinning the component polymers from separate supply chambers, the components being combined immediately before or in the nozzles of the spinnerett, of which a suitable type for making bi-component filaments is exemplified. Polycaprolactam and a copolymer thereof with polyhexamethylene adipamide are specified polymers. The filaments may be stretched, and heat relaxed; they crimp readily.
