Abstract

1,123,093. Fluid couplings. SOC. ANON. FRANCAISE DU FERODO. 28 Jan., 1966 [15 Feb., 1965], No. 3973/66. Headings F2C and F2U. A hydrodynamic fluid coupling for use with a squirrel-cage electric motor comprises cast aluminium pump and turbine wheels 31, 32 connected by tolerance rings 37, 47 to a pressed steel driving casing 12 and a driven shaft 11. Projections 38, 48 on the wheels 31, 32 engage recesses 17 in the casing 12 and flats 49 on the shaft 11 to provide a drive in the event of failure of the tolerance rings. A number of filler plugs 21 are provided to enable the coupling to be filled irrespective of its orientation. The casing 12 may be connected to a driving shaft 10 by flexible strips 23 or by rigid means.
