Abstract

1,120,160. Railway vehicle undercarriages. ALWEG G.m.b.H. 20 March, 1967, No. 12860/67. Heading B7L. A bogie, for monorail vehicles, e.g. for supporting the adjacent ends 10 and 11, Figs. 1 and 2, of coupled vehicles, embraces a supporting beam 20 in the manner of a saddle, and has support wheels 17 and guide wheels 18 which run on the top surface and side faces of the beam 20 respectively. The invention is characterized in that the bogie is adjusted, during its travel along a curved track section so that the central transverse vertical plane of the bogie is disposed radially to the centre of curvature of the track section, by means of coupling rods 23, 24 connecting the U-shaped bogie frame 15 with the ends of the vehicle body chassis 12 and 13, which ends are pivotally connected to the frame 15 by a pivot 14. The adjacent ends of the rods 23, 24 are pivotally connected to the ends of a two-armed lever 22 pivoted on a bracket 21 on the frame. The outer ends of the rods are pivoted to the chassis 12 and 13. The wheels 17 are carried by brackets 16 extending fore and aft of the bogie frame 15,. whilst the wheels 18 are carried on spring-urged horizontal rockers 19. In another embodiment, the two-armed lever 22 is also connected to, two further rods connected to the ends of the axles of the wheels 17 on one side of the beam. 20, the other ends of those axles being pivoted to. the bogie frame. Instead of the mechanical linkage. shown, the couplings may be hydraulic or electrical.
