Abstract

1,115,975. Electric shavers. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. 12 May, 1966 [19 July, 1965], No. 21080/66. Heading B4B. In an electric shaver comprising a casing 11 on which is mounted a shaving head 12 which includes a comb 13, means are provided for selectively supplying a friction reducing substance to a chamber 17 defined between ribs 15d and 15e of the comb and the perforated skin contacting plate 16 supported thereon, substance supplied through the chamber being gradually applied by capillary action to the user's skin. Conduit means 22 interconnect the chamber with storage means 21 in the casing for the substance which is forced from the storage means to the chamber by pump means 24 comprising a depressible resilient button 25. One or more oscillatable blades 14 are each provided with a recess 20 to accommodate the chamber 17. When the shaver is not in use, the comb is protected by a guard 28 to which is secured a resilient pad 29 to seal the chamber against leakage of the substance through the perforations in the plate 16. The invention is also stated to be applicable to shavers of the reciprocating or rotary head type.
