Abstract
The invention of the parent Specification 1,021,842 is adapted to produce a curvature in the direction of travel of a glass sheet over a gaseous support bed. As disclosed, the support contour of the gaseous bed is also transversely curved. The glass sheet passes through a preheat section A to a heating section B comprising a flat zone 10, a transition zone 12 and a final shaping zone 14. The shaped sheet then passes to a quenching section C between opposed blasts of cool air and thence to a delivering roll section D. The support beds 36 and nodules 37 are similar to those disclosed in the parent Specification. The general shape disclosed is toroidal, but other shapes are referred to, together with other gaseous support beds. <PICT:1112781/C1/1>
