Abstract

<PICT:1110352/C1/1> Raw sludge is subjected to a thickening and kneading action in the presence of not more than two-thirds of digested sludge produced by the process to give ultimately a digested sludge concentrated to contain substantially no freely-releasable liquor. A thickener 48 has a rotary raking structure 51 with discharge for sludge from sump 56 via conduit 57 and for liquid via launder 59.
