In a circular machine adapted for two feed reciprocatory knitting the corners 28, 29, 31, 32 of the throat plates at there feeds are equidistant from the lowermost point of the adjacent stitch cams 2, 3, 10. The yarn is thus fed to the needles at the same angle at each feed and in each direction of rotation. Stitch cam 10 is pivoted. Yarn guides e.g. 25 at the auxiliary station are controlled from a cam driven (45 Fig. 2, not shown) by means of pivoted levers (42). Guide (25) operative during reciprocation is initially lowered adjacent the edge of the throat plate and is subsequently pulled back by spring (40) as the lever drops onto the low of the cam. The yarn guide holders are mounted around the cylinder on a tiltable frame.
