Abstract

1,104,630. Withdrawing film from film packs. INTERNATIONAL POLAROID CORPORATION. Oct.10, 1966 [Oct.21, 1965], No.45143/66. Heading G2A. Apparatus for successively withdrawing exposed film units 18 from a film pack in a camera (not shown) includes a first carriage 20 mounted to reciprocate to and from the camera back by means of guide rods 22, 23 slidable in apertures in a mounting brace (12), Fig. 1 (not shown) attached to the camera and a second carriage 28 slidably mounted on the first carriage by means of guide rods 30, 32. To withdraw a film unit, the carriages are moved by means of a handle 38, into engagement with the camera back, and clamping means on the carriage 28 are tipped to engage a leader 17. The carriage 28 is then moved away from the camera back so as to withdraw the leader 17 and sever it from the unit 18, withdrawal causing a leading end 45 of the unit to project from the camera back into clamping means on the first carriage 20. Further movement of the carriage 28 picks up the first carriage 20, thus causing the clamping means thereon to grasp the end 45, and causes the carriage 20 to withdraw the film unit 18 from the camera back. At maximum extension of both carriages from the brace (12), releasing means automatically free the leader 17 and the end 18 from the respective clamping means, and the leader clamping means is cocked.
