Abstract

1,099,851. Wells &c. GRAY TOOL CO. Feb. 2, 1965, No. 4459/65. Heading E1F. A pipe or casing hanger 440 is releasably Locked in a wellhead 410 by a ring 448 carried by the hanger and expansible to engage a groove 450 in the wellhead. The hanger is lowered into the wellhead on a tool 438 screwed into the hanger at a connection 445 and having a slidable part 470 holding the ring retracted. When the hanger is seated in the wellhead the connection 445 is unscrewed to first release the ring to permit it to engage the groove 450, and then to release the tool from the hanger.
