Abstract

1,098,291. Moulding fluid flow manifold blocks. VICKERS SPERRY RAND Ltd. Jan. 29, 1965 [Oct. 29, 1963]. No. 42543/63. Heading B5A. A fluid flow manifold block is made by inserting in a hollow former a tube following between ports in a wall or walls of the former a path which is not wholly rectilinear and thereafter filling the former with a substance capable of solidifying whereby a non-wholly rectilinear fluid flow path is provided in the solidified mass. As shown the former is formed by metal side plates 10, 11, 12, 13 which is placed on a base 18, each plate being formed with apertures 14 and screw-threaded holes 15. The apertures 14 are interconnected in the required manner by thin walled flexible tubes X of a plastic material compatible with the fluid to be transmitted, the tubes being fitted with spacer rings or elements to render the tubes capable of withstanding the pressure of the fluid to be transmitted. The mould is then filled with a settable synthetic resin. The holes 15 provide mountings either for a fluid flow control valve, Fig. 5 (not shown), co-operating with the apertures 14, or for a pipe connector or adapter, Fig. 6 (not shown), co-operating with the apertures 14.
