A percussive tool such as a drill, for working on a solid body 6 comprises an impact member 1 adapted to strike a working tool 4 and being made of a material having a lower modulus of elasticity than that of the material of the working member. In order that the impact member may be made from a material as above, a clearance #l must be provided between the working end of the tool 4 and the solid body 6 or between or the end of an intermediate member (3, Fig. 3) and the tool. The clearance may be maintained by a spring 9 mounted in a cylinder (7, Fig. 6).
