Abstract

1,086,115. Alarm clocks. PORTESCAP S. A. April 14, 1965 [May 8, 1964], No. 15877/65. Heading G3T. The alarm switch 14 is operated by a tripping device controlled by the usual cam wheel 6 driven one revolution in twenty-four hours through a differential 8 from the hour wheel 7 and set by a setting spindle 9. The tripping device allows a short adjustable alarm period of a few seconds and comprises two levers 3, 12 pivoted to the frame at 2. A nose 3a of lever 3 drops into the cam 6 so as to bring a pinion 21, rotatably mounting by a tilting shaft 17, Fig. 5 (not shown) pivoted at one end in the lever 3 and at the other end in the frame, into engagement with the third wheel 22 of the clock. Simultaneously the second lever 12 is rotated to close the switch 14. A cam 16 fast with the pinion 21 begins to rotate and after a predetermined alarm period releases the lever 12 sufficiently to allow the switch to reopen. A spring 15 on lever 3 biases the lever 12. When the first lever 3 is later returned to rest position by cam 6, a spiral spring connected to shaft 17 returns cam 16 to an initial position which is adjustable by adjustment of the spiral spring to vary the alarm period.
