Abstract
The invention comprises pentachlorobenzamide which is N-substituted by NH2, OH, CHOHCCl3, CH2OH, CH2O-alkyl or CH2-(OC2H4)nOH, where n = 1-3. C6Cl5CONHNH2 and C6Cl5CONHOH are made by reacting C6Cl5COCl with N2H4 or NH2OH; C6Cl5CONHCHOHCCl3 and C6Cl5CONHCH2OH by reacting C6Cl5CONH2 with chloral or CH2O; and the ethers of C6Cl5CONHCH2OH are made by reacting it with an alkanol or with mono-, di- or tri-ethylene glycol.ALSO:Fungicides, which may be applied alone or in admixture with a solid or liquid diluent or carrier have the formula: <FORM:1085474/A5-A6/1> wherein R is H,NH2, OH, CHOHCCl3, CH2OH, CH2O-alkyl or CH2(OC2H4)nOH (n=1-3). Suitable formulations are solutions, emulsions, suspensions, powders, pastes and granulates, and they may also contain organic Hg compounds (e.g. PhHgOAc), phosphoric acid esters and antibiotics (e.g. "Blasticidin S").
