Abstract

Plasticized polymeric materials are used in diffusion membranes for gas separation. Hydrogen and carbon dioxide are separated by diffusion through a polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride membrane made selectively permeable to the CO2 with a plasticizer such as di-n-octyl-sebacate and the phthalic acid ester of mixed C7-C9 alcohols.
