Abstract
1,079,902. Electric heating elements. S. J. NOYCE. Aug. 6, 1964 [Aug. 6, 1963], No. 31018/63. Heading H5H. [Also in Division B5] A flexible heating element comprises a coating 4 of conductive silicone rubber, with bus-bars 2, 3, between two layers of glass cloth 1 (one layer removed in Fig. 1). The bus-bars, 0À006- inch thick, are first printed, painted or etched on to the first layer 1; the conductive coating is then applied as a solution and cured, and the second layer attached by non-conductive adhesive. Alternatively, the conductive coating itself may act as the bonding agent. Application to panel heaters, under-carpet heaters and electric blankets is mentioned. The element is not more than 0À012-inch thick.
