Abstract
1,079,024. Time switches. CONTROLS CO. OF AMERICA. Sept. 24, 1965 [Oct. 24, 1964], ,No. 43452/64. Addition to 1,045,916. Heading H2B. [Also in Divisions F2 and D1] Switch - -operating cams for a washing- machine are driven by a ratchet wheel 11, stepped onwards by one tooth at a time by axeciprocating pawl 12 disengageable for four pawl step intervals for each revolution of the ratchet wheel 11. During the static period of the ratchet wheel 11 the pawl 12 is held out of ratchet tooth engagement by a sprung mask 26 having similar ratchet teeth 26b, movable transversely and rotatively on the ratchet wheel shaft 27 and actuated by a sprung arm 34 having ratchet teeth engaging similar teeth 26c on the mask 26. The arm 34 actuates the mask when a projection 32 thereof is sprung into a notch in one of the switch cams 33. The pawl 12 then drives the mask 26 clockwise four steps without ratchet wheel rotation, and with the teeth 26c ratcheting over the similar teeth an arm 34, until the mask is pulled out of pawl engagement over the end of arm 34 by spring 37. The pawl 12 then re-engages the ratchet wheel and drives the cam 33 clockwise thus swinging arm 34 anti-clockwise to re-engage its ratchet teeth with those 26c of the mask ready for the next masking period. The arm 34 may be axially moved out of the path of cam 33 by the chamfered end (134b) of an integral arm (134) engaging a manually adjusted rotating disc (45) fast with the switch-cams, Fig. 2 (not shown).
