Abstract
1,076,509. Blowpipe burners. IWATANI & CO. Ltd. May 6, 1966, No. 20210/66. Heading F4T. An oxygen blowpipe nozzle for cutting metals has a sonic zone 1, a bottleneck 2 through which oxygen passes into a divergent acceleration zone 3 where it attains supersonic speed and an extension 4, extending beyond the level at which heating gas orifices 6 discharge and in which extension the oxygen is divided into a supersonic jet and a subsonic jet surrounding it. The extension 4 is of heat-resisting material such as a ceramic.
