Abstract

1,072,502. Storing liquefied gases. COMPAGNIE DES PRODUITS CHIMIQUES ET RAFFINERIES DE BERRE. May 28, 1964 [May 28, 1963], No. 22063/64. Heading F4P. A lightweight liquid butane container is reinforced by a metal tube (12), Fig. 1 (not shown), extending between opposite sides of the container and being closed at one end by a plug (22) and having a combined filling and emptying valve (34) at the other end adjacent orifices (20) in the tube wall. The container is constructed of an inner translucent wall (2) of thin flexible plastic material surrounded by a translucent envelope (4) of reinforced fibre glass whereby the amount of charge may be observed. Re-vaporization is assisted by conduction of ambient heat along the tube (12) which is increased by inserting the closure plug at an intermediate position (28). In a modification the lower plug may also serve to house a ball valve and a plurality of containers are superimposed and connected together in series by means of unions (41), Fig. 2 (not shown) (only one of which is shown). Each union is screwed into the upper valve housing (242) of a container and into the lower valve housing (22 1 ) of the container above and has a stem (43) for unseating valves (34, 34 2 ).
