Abstract

1,072,176. Spray dryers. MOLEKULARZERSTAUBUNG MEISSEN VEB. Sept. 28, 1965, No. 41126/65. Heading BIB. Gaseous drying medium is introduced into the head 1 of a spray dryer 2 which has a rotating atomiser 19 through the structurally combined tangential ducts 6 and 7 in such a way that one stream of the gas passes through a perforated plate 3 into the interior of the dryer in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis while the other stream passes through regulatable openings 14 (Fig. 2) at the level of duct 7 into a tube 13 surrounding the atomiser and swirls around the cone shaped casing 18 to enter the interior in a spiral path. Dampers 9, and 10 in the ducts control the amount of medium introduced. The number of openings 14 is selectable by the adjustable shutters 16 (Fig. 2).
