1,062,576. Locking-nuts. L. BULMER. Jan. 6, 1965 [Feb. 6, 1964], No. 5085/64. Heading F2H. A locking-nut 1 has the major portion 2 of the screw-thread of constant pitch and terminates in a convolution of reduced pitch formed by an inwardly disposed peripheral lip 7. The pitch is reduced by applying pressure axially to the nut as by pressing or stamping. The lip 7 is provided with one or more slots 8. The threaded portion of the nuts may be prelubricated or similarly treated with a synthetic resin or glass fibre. In nuts composed of synthetic resin the threaded portion is formed during the moulding process. After use the lip 7 may be repositioned by striking the same with a hammer.
