Abstract

1,062,091. Studs; nuts; securing nuts to work. MOULDED FASTENERS Ltd. Feb. 3, 1965 [Feb. 3, 1964], No. 4432/64. Heading F2H. A nylon nut (5) has an unthreaded counterbore (5a) to locate it on a stud (3) before it is thrust without rotation on to the stud for quick interengagement of the nut and stud threads (5b) and (3b) and to a position where very little rotation is necessary for tightening. The nut (5) is used with a washer (6), if desired, to secure a loud-speaker housing (1) to a support (2) which has an untapped bore (2a) in which an end (3a) of the stud (3) is anchored by screwing by means of an hexagonal part (4) of the stud. The end (3a) is of greater diameter than the end (3b) to lessen the chance of the stud loosening when the nut (5) is unscrewed. The stud may be of hard thermoplastic material. It may comprise a metal member (10), Fig. 2 (not shown) with a flattened end (12) on which is moulded a screwthreaded anchoring portion (13) of synthetic plastics material.
