Abstract

1,053,052. Refrigerating. PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN N.V. March 6, 1964 [March 11, 1963], No. 9603/64. Heading F4H. [Also in Division F1] In a cold-gas refrigeration pump a compressible regenerator element 22, Fig. 3b, and a cooler 15 are accommodated together under compression in a housing 40 so that the axial dimension A 2 of the assembled parts 22, 15 is smaller than that of the two parts prior to assembly. The pump comprises heating pipes 3, 5 connected to an annular chamber 4, the pipes 5 being connected to the regenerator and cooler devices 10 and having horizontal sections 12 allowing for expansion. The devices 10 are arranged around the cylinder 1 and connected thereto at 11. The regenerator elements 22, consisting of gauzes, are contained in a container 19, the wall of which is curved inwardly over a flange 18 on the cooler assembly 15, whereby the casing 19 can move relatively to the cooler assembly to permit compression of the element 22 on assembly. In a two-cylinder arrangement, Fig. 6 (not shown), the regenerator and cooler units of each cylinder are arranged in two sets of three, 33 ... 35, 36 ... 38, on opposite sides of the plane through the cylinder axes to permit the cylinders being situated closer together.
