Abstract

1,052,269. Sweet-making apparatus. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH) Ltd. Dec. 2, 1963 [Sept. 22, 1962], No. 36133/62. Heading A2B. Apparatus for producing sweets from a rope of toffee comprises an intermittently rotatable feed wheel having a series of spaced pockets, means for feeding the rope axially downwards in register with successive waiting pockets for a leading portion of the rope to be received by each pocket in turn at a feeding station, a rotatable disc knife on an arm pivotally mounted for oscillation across the path of movement of the rope while a portion is in a pocket at the feeding station, means for rotating the knife, and means for oscillating the arm, in timed relationship with the feed wheel, to cause the knife to sever successive lengths of rope during oscillating movements in opposite directions, to form a succession of sweets.
