Abstract

1,049,456. Grab excavators. P. DE BOSREDON. June 30, 1965 [July 28, 1964], No. 27672/65. Heading E1F. A grab bucket assembly designed for sinking shafts includes an outwardly expandable linkage for engaging the wall of a shaft to hold a grab bucket, secured to the lower end of the assembly, against vertical movement during a digging operation of the shells of the bucket. The linkage involves an hydraulically actuated single or double acting jack to the piston rod and cylinder of which are pivoted radially extending arms pivoted in turn to pads that on expansion of the jack are forced by the arms into engagement with the wall of the shaft. A single acting jack expands against springs.
