1,043,442. Shipbuilding berths. W. J. LITHGOW. Jan. 29, 1965 [Feb. 1, 1964], No. 4373/64. Heading B7S. A method of ship construction includes in combination a shipbuilding berth, a rigid mobile shed extending across the berth, means in the shed for handling sections of a ship, and shed moving means for progressively moving the shed along the berth. The ship is normally constructed from stern to bow and the shed is progressively moved forward along the berth as the completed portion of the ship increases in length from the stern. The length of the shed is about one-third the length of the berth.
