Abstract

1,043,269. Gas burners. H. VAILLANT, [trading as JOH VAILLANT KOMM.-GES.]. Nov. 28, 1963 [Feb. 14, 1963; May 14, 1963; May 16, 1963], No. 46988/63. Heading F4T. A burner assembly comprises a plurality of burners 9 fed by gas nozzles 4 on a T-shaped distribution pipe 3 connected to a central connecting-piece 1 adapted to be screwed to a gas supply line. The connecting-piece has a projection 5 carrying a pilot burner 6 providing three flames, two of which are directed to adjacent burners and the third towards a bimetal strip 7 controlling a pilot safety valve (not shown). Each burner 9 comprises two pressed metal cups 10, 10<SP>1</SP> forming a mixing chamber closed at the top by an insert 15 of U cross-section having a plurality of burner slots 16. To facilitate ignition of one burner from the adjacent burner the insert has an enlarged part 21 having burner slots which extend to its edges. Four burners 9 are connected together by two sheet-metal bars 17, 18 having U-shaped cut-outs into which the burners are inserted, the sides of the cut-outs entering grooves in the burners, and the unit thus formed is secured to the distribution pipe 3 by a holding sheet 8 which is secured to the distribution pipe 3 and engages a cut-out in a rib 11 on each burner. The bar 17 is secured by a screw 19 to the projection 5 on the connecting- piece. The gas nozzles 4 are provided with lateral openings for the admission of primary air and project into mouthpieces 12 formed on the mixing chambers. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), the gas nozzles do not have air inlets and are screwed into thickened parts of the distribution pipe; and the mouthpiece of each burner has a U-shaped projection having circular recesses adapted to grip the distribution pipe between two thickened parts thereof.
