Abstract

1,040,256. Fireguards. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 1, 1965 [Feb. 18, 1964], No. 6717/64. Heading F4W. In a guard for a radiant electric fire the cross-section of the horizontal louvres 6 comprises a forwardly extending portion 6a and a downwardly and rearwardly extending portion 6b arranged to intercept the greater part of the downwardly directed radiant heat from the heating elements and reflector 3 and reflect it upwards on to the louvre next above from where it is re-radiated in a forward direction. The upper and lower surfaces of 6b and preferably the surfaces of 6a, are reflective and the louvres may be made from or plated with a material giving a bright reflecting surface. The louvres are attached, for example by welding, to upright support members to form a rigid structure.
