Abstract

1,036,830. Workholders, welding by fusion. L. F. BLATT. Nov. 5, 1964, No. 45111/64. Headings B3B and B3R. A work-holder for holding workpieces W, W<SP>1</SP>, during a welding, riveting, machining or drilling operation, comprises an anvil 36, a fluid pressure piston and rod 25, 26, a member 30 connected to the rod and slidable in casing 27, a workclamp 33 pivoted at 34 on the casing, and a link 39 pivoted at 38 on member 30, and at 40 on the clamp. Member 30 may be a sliding fit in casing 27. In a modification, a pair of rollers 44, Fig. 2 (not shown), are carried by pivot 38 and engage the bore 43 of casing 41. In a further modification, rollers 44 are replaced by two sets of ball bearings 45, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), which are arranged in retainers 46, and move along hardened steel inserts 48 anchored at 49. In a still further modification, ball bearings 45 are replaced by a pair of continuous roller chains 50, Fig. 6 (not shown).
