Abstract

A nuclear reactor or chemical reaction pressure vessel is formed from a succession of abutting parts, namely a first end cover, one or more rings, an intermediate ring, one or more rings, and a second end cover; the assembly is held together by tie bars extending from the end covers to the intermediate ring. The drawing shows a nuclear reactor pressure vessel which includes coolant inlet 8 in the end cover 4 and coolant outlets in the intermediate ring 5.
