Abstract

1,030,047. Induction heating. DEUTSCHE EDELSTAHLWERKE A.G., and ALLGEMEINE ELEKTRICTATS-GESELLSCHAFT. Sept. 24, 1964 [Sept. 25, 1963], No. 39029/64. Heading H5H. The surface of a crank-pin 1 is inductively heated by a coil 4 covering the major part of the surface and two coils 6 (only one shown), which heat the radii 2. The inductors 4, 6 may be supplied by sources having different characteristics, frequencies and/or power and are spaced apart so that air coupling between them is suppressed, thereby preventing interference between the different sources. In an axially-aligned arrangement of coils, Fig. 1 (not shown), this suppression is achieved by providing the coils with laminar yokes. Various heating effects may be obtained by varying the supply parameters and time of energization of the coils.
