Abstract

Acid condensation products of diphenylamine-4-diazonium salts and aldehydes or ketones are prepared by condensing the diazonium salt with the aldehyde or ketone in the presence of a strong acid (sulphuric, hydrochloric, hexafluorophosphoric, nitric, perchloric, hydrofluoroboric, monomeric alkyl phosphonic, monomeric vinyl phosphonic, selenic, arsenic, toluene sulphonic, methane sulphonic and naphthelene-1,5-disulphonic acid are specified). Specified aldehydes and ketones are formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, benzaldehyde, 1-naphthaldehyde, cinnamaldehyde, pyridine-3-aldehyde, quinoline-4-aldehyde, pyroracemic acid, acetone, butanone and di-isobutyl ketone.
