Abstract

1,019,044. Feeding sheets. J. BOBST & FIB S.A. Nov. 5, 1963 [Nov. 5, 1962], No. 43719/63. Heading B6B. Apparatus for separating sheets of cardboard sequentially from the bottom of a stack 1 comprises a continuously-driven conveyer belt 2 on which the stack rests, a front stop plate 7 having a blade edge 8 which is adjusted so that only one sheet can pass between the edge 8 and the belt 2, and a pair of wheels 30 or the like which are rotated through a friction-clutch and have toothed or like peripheries which extend through a slot 32 in the plate 7 to engage the edges of the sheets to force the bottom sheets firmly towards the belt 2 to assist sheet separation. The plate 7 is vertically adjustable by a screw 13 relative to a supporting frame 9, and lockable by a screw 12; and the frame 9 is adjustably mounted on a cross-beam 16, and lockable by a screw 18. The frame 9'supports three shafts 22, 23, 24 carrying chain wheels for a chain 27, the shaft 22 being driven, and the wheels 30 are mounted on the shaft 24 which is mounted in an auxiliary frame 33 adjustable towards the plate 7 and lockable by a screw 35 to the frame 9. The belt 2 is supported on rollers 3, 4, 5, and sheets separated from the stack 1 are pressed on the belt by rollers 21 on the frame 9. To prevent damage to the sheets, the wheels 30 are made of nylon or the like, and the friction clutch in the drive of the wheels is arranged to slip when a certain pressure is reached.
