Abstract

1,018,728. Rotary pumps. E. SOEDING. July 23, 1963 [July 26, 1962], No. 29201/63. Heading F1F. An eccentric worm pump having a worm-like rotor 105 (not shown), rotatable in a stator 103 of natural or synthetic rubber to form several closed cavities which advance from end-to-end of the stator on rotation of the rotor to convey material such as sludge, highly pasty, high viscous or dry materials from an inlet 101 to an outlet 102 or vice versa includes radial stator bores 113 connected by channels 115, 114 through a connection 120 to an external flushing system to enable abrasive material to be carried away and thus avoid excessive wear of the rotor and stator. The rotor is driven through a Cardan joint 107 so that besides rotating, the rotor carries out an oscillating movement substantially parallel to itself. Archimedean worms 109 and 111 are located at the ends of the rotor, the former for conveying material axially to the rotor and the latter arranged as a sealing or packing worm on the Cardan shaft 106. Reference has been directed by Comptroller to Specification 977,687.
