Abstract

1,018,602. Valves. PRATT PRECISION HYDRAULICS Ltd. Aug. 28, 1963 [Sept. 4, 1962], No. 33818/62. Heading F2V. [Also in Division H1] A valve 12 is operated by one or as shown two opposed and detachable solenoids 28, which latter are each enclosed in a housing 20 having one or more chambers 29 forming a bath for the solenoid; annular sealing means 35 are provided for permitting communication between the valve and the chamber(s) when the solenoid is mounted on the valve and for preventing escape of fluid from the chamber(s) when the solenoid is dismounted. The valve 12 is reciprocable in a bore 11 and fluid leaks along the latter into the chambers 29 or in the reverse direction if the pressure of fluid in the chambers 29 is higher than that of the controlled fluid. When the solenoids are dismounted springs 30 urge the solenoids towards the open ends of housings 20 to seat sealing means 35 against elements 31. Bleed screws 38 may be located in housings 20 to enable the presence of fluid to be checked and to release pressure for dismantling purposes; similar means or check valves may be employed for initial charging purposes. A part of the solenoid plunger 22 may extend in each housing to facilitate manual operation. Pressure equalization between the housings 20 is realized by a duct 36 axial of the valve 12.
