Abstract

1,017,629. Packaging surgical material. ETHICON Ltd. Nov. 2, 1964 [Nov. 1, 1963], No. 43229/63. Heading B8C. A sheet of material 7 on which has been placed a surgical material, e.g. a stick of bone wax 9, is inserted in a sleeve 6 and the whole enclosed in outer sealed envelope 3. The sleeve 6 and sheet of material 7 which are preferably made from paper, fibreboard, cardboard, aluminium foil or plastics sheet material may be coated with silicone to facilitate the removal of the wax stick 9. The outer envelope comprises a bottom sheet 4 of a paper and aluminium foil laminate bonded with polythene heat sealed to a top sheet 3 which is preferably a transparent film, ears 3a, 4a being left unsealed to facilitate opening the envelope. A folded cover of glassine or other wax-resistant material may be placed around the wax 9 before it is enclosed in the sheet 7.
