Abstract

1,015,727. Refrigerating; defrosting. WESTOOL Ltd. Nov. 27, 1964 [Nov. 28, 1963], No. 47118/63. Heading F4H. A dehumidifier comprises a refrigerating circuit having an evaporator coil 4, a condenser 2, and means, e.g. a fan 5, for passing air first over the evaporator to cool the air, and thereby extract moisture from the air, and thence over the condenser to reheat the air. Further heating may be obtained by passing the air over the fan motor 8 and compressor 1. Means, e.g. valve 12 or a reversing valve, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), are provided for temporarily circulating warm refrigerant through the evaporator coil 4 to defrost it. Said means may be time-controlled and may have a temperature sensitive override. The moisture extracted from the air is collected in a drip tray 6 which is heated by warm refrigerant passing through pipe 9.
