Abstract
Method for the preparation of compounds having the basic sheletal structure of the formula <FORM:1013576/C2/1> in which R1 is COOR2 or is isoxazoyl of general formula <FORM:1013576/C2/2> in which Y1 is H, carboxy lower carbalkoxy' carbobenzoxy, cyano, -CONC2,-CONH(CH3) or -CONH(C2H5) and Y2 is lower carbalkoxy carbobenzoxy carboxy, cyano -CONH2, -CONH(CH3) -CONH(C2H5) or -CON(CH3)2 comprises reacting a tricyclic triketone compound of the general formula <FORM:1013576/C2/3> or a tautomer thereof, in a reaction inert solvent with a compound having the formula R1-HC = O, the tricyclic triketone compound being in the form of a metal chelate or the reaction being conducted in the presence of such a metal chelate or in the presence of a metal ion, e.g. an alkaline earth (such as magnesium), aluminium or a transition metal ion capable of forming such a metal chelate with the compound, and, if desired, treating the produce of formula I wherein R1 is a 5-oxazolyl ester with an amine to produce compounds of Formula I in which Y1 and Y2 are amide containing groups -CONR3R4. In an example: 2-carbobutoxy-methylidene - 5 - methoxy - 8 - chloro - 3,4,10-trioxo-1,2,3,4,4a,9,9a,10 -octahydroanthracene is prepared by reacting in an atmosphere of nitrogen 5 - methoxy - 8 - chloro - 3,4,10 - trioxo-1,2,3,4,4a,9,9a,10 - octahydroanthracene, magnesium methoxide and n-butyl glyoxylate. In another example: 2-[(51-(31-carbomethoxy)-isoxazolyl) - methylidene] - 5 - methoxy - 8 - chloro - 3,4,10 -trioxo - 1,2,3,4,4a,9,9a,10 -octahydroanthracene is prepared by reacting 5-methoxy - 8 - chloro - 3,4,10 - trioxo - 1,2,3,4,4a, 9, 9a, 10-octahydroanthracene, magnesium methoxide, and 3-carbomethoxy-5-formylisox-azole.
