Wind and like screens.-Relates to the mounting of a screen of coloured or smoked glass for shielding the eyes of the driver of an automobile from the glare of passing head-lights. The screen 24 is carried by an arm 16, which is angularly adjustable about its connexion to the vehicle. The arm 16 is telescopic and at its inner end carries a vertical bolt 15, which passes through an ear 14 of a two-part ring 11 clamped to one of the side posts B of the usual wind-screen. In a modification, the clamp is replaced by an eye-bolt screwing into the post B. The threaded lower end of the bolt 15 is fitted with a wing-nut 17. The frame 26 of the screen 24 is connected by triangular end pieces 27 to the frame 25 of a mirror, and ono of the pieces 27 is formed with a boss 28 having radial grooves on its outer face, which bears against the radially ribbed face of a disk 31. A bolt 30, Fig. 4, projecting from the disk 31 passes through the boss 28, and is fitted with a spring 33 which acts to hold the boss 28 and the disk 31 in locking engagement. The disk 31 is mounted by an ear 35 on the upturned end 20 of the telescoping rod 18 of the arm 16. At night, the screen 24 is disposed, as shown in Fig. 1, between the driver's eyes and the wind-screen. During the day, the parts are adjusted to dispose the mirror vertically or at any desired angle against the post B, to serve as a look-out reflector. The mirror frame 25 comprises a back with edges 36, Fig. 6, turned over the front edges of the glass, cushioning-material 37 being disposed between the glass and the back. The frame 26 for the screen 24 is three-sided and of U-section, the screen being removable from the fourth side. Screws 40 normally retain the screen in its frame.
