Abstract

1,011,680. Bolting. WESTLAND AIRCRAFT Ltd. Feb. 4, 1964 [April 18, 1963], No. 15238/63. Heading F2H. [Also in Division F3] In a device which allows a section of a vehicle or vessel to be released from the main body by a predetermined signal, a member 2 associated with the main body and a member 3 associated with the section to be released, are secured by fusible bolts 1 made of nylon which are melted by passing current through electrical resistance heating wires 4 coiled around the bolts and attached to electric cables 5, 6. The axial length of the coil of the wire 4 is substantially twice the diameter of the bolt. In a modification, fusible unthreaded members are provided. The device may be energized remotely by a radio or photo-sensitive device.
