Abstract
An electric cable has an insulating sheath comprising a copolymer of ethylene and styrene, preferably made using a Ziegler catalyst, in which the styrene content is from 5 to 50%, preferably 5 to 30%, by weight. A butyl-rubber mixture of high conductivity which may be extruded on to the conductor comprises, by weight, 45% butyl rubber, 1.2% zinc oxide, 0.7% sulphur, 0.5% tetramethylthiuram disulphide, 0.2% zinc dimethyl dithiocarbamate, 24.3% acetylene black, and 28.1% graphite.
