Abstract

The invention comprises estra-1,3,5(10)-triene - 3,16a ,17b - triol tripropionate and the preparation thereof by reacting estra-1,3,5(10)-triene-3,16a -17b -triol, in solution in an organic solvent with propionic anhydride. Pharmaceutical compositions containing the above ester and having estrogenic and relaxant activity are administered orally as tablets, by injection or as a suppository.
