1002620 Thatching buildings P A AVERY 14 Aug 1964 [14 May 1963] 18981/63 Index E1A 296 A roof thatching comprises straw or reed 1, or filaments of plastics material, mounted on a sheet or backing strip 2 of foamed plastics, such as foamed polystyrene or polyurethane, the backing being secured to the roof 5 which is to be thatched. Filaments of P.V.C. are preferred, each filament having a root portion 3 bonded to the backing 2, the remainder of the filament being unsupported. The backing may be strenthened by a woven reinforcement 10. Finishing strips 8 and ridge-capping pieces 9 are provided for covering exposed edges and preserving the illusion of thickness in the thatch.
