Abstract

[Also in Divisions F2 and H2] A suspension and vibration damping device for fans comprises a fan housing the part 1 of which is integral with a supporting frame 2, and an electric motor 5 for the fan wheel 4 connected to the frame by two or more radial supporting arms 6 which are connected to the frame at their radially outermost ends by rubber springs 7 in the form of pads to take up vibrations in a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis arising from variations in motor torque, the innermost ends of the supporting arms being pivotally connected to the motor or a member rigidly connected thereto. This device also reduces noise. The rubber springs 7 may be pre-tensioned by connecting bolts 8. The inner ends of the arms 6 are pivotally connected to brackets 11 by rubber springs 9 and bolts 10. The motor 5 may be a single, two or three phase motor. The fan may be mounted in a ceiling.
