Abstract

A chemical sensor array system includes a chemical sensor array and network connection means, enabling it be accessed from a remote site or sites. This enables sensor data or other information to be transmitted to a central monitoring site, for example and also permits information to be sent back to the apparatus. The chemical sensors may sense in the liquid, gas or vapour phase and may include odour analysis sensors known as electronic noses, mass sensitive sensors such as acoustic wave sensors, electronic conductance and capacitance sensors. Use of the invention provides internet connectivity to the sensors and monitoring site through a telephone network including a mobile telephone network.
