The invention relates to an air transport apparatus including: pieces of luggage (110, 120, 130, 140), a storage assembly comprising a storage frame (74, 76) and luggage containers (10) that can be inserted into said storage frame, said containers (10) having a plurality of spaces (54) including retaining members (56, 58), while said pieces of luggage (110, 120, 130, 140) comprise attachment members (154, 156, 158, 160) that engage with said retaining members (56, 58), said storage assembly also comprising a plurality of lockable blocking members (100). According to the invention, each of said pieces of luggage (110) comprises encoded information, while said storage frame includes a plurality of reception and control members (168), and said reception and control members (168) unlock said lockable blocking members (100) when said reception and control members (168) receive the encoded information that corresponds to the encoded information of said piece of luggage.
