Abstract
The invention relates to a method for designing and manufacturing a positioning groove intended for use in repositioning the maxilla (1) of a patient during orthognathic surgery, characterized in that a dental reference system (SRD) is defined, thereby enabling the movements and rotations of the bone structures to be estimated from imaging the patient's anatomy, which is produced either in 2-D or in 3-D, by choosing said dental reference system (SRD) using the sagittal plane of the articulator and the following three points: * the interincisal point (Ii) of the maxilla (1), which will preferably form the origin of the reference system; * the vestibular mesial cuspid point of the first left molar (m1G); * the vestibular mesial cuspid point of the first right molar (M1D); and in that particular processing of the resulting data is carried out using these points and data acquired from the plaster model of the patient's (5) maximalla.
