Abstract

The method involves immersing a metal post in an aqueous anodizing bath filled with acid, where the bath is maintained at constant temperature, and the acid is one of hydrochloric acid and/or nitric acid and/or sulfuric acid. Voltage of about 5-90 volts with a low current density is applied to the metal post immersed in the bath, and the metal post is maintained in the bath until a colored oxide layer of predetermined thickness is deposited, where the metal post is positioned in an enclosure rotated around a horizontal axis, prior to immersion of the metal post in the bath.
