Description
The present invention relates to a bike stand provided with at least two adjustable parts relative to each other. In a similar bike stand known from the German patent application DE-A1-32.47.385, a first elongated portion is provided with a toothing while a second elongated portion is provided with a cam and an adjacent notch . The first part extends in the second part, so that the cam can be positioned in a space in the toothing. Next, a screw is screwed through the notch into another gap in the toothing, so that the second portion is firmly connected to the first portion. If it is desired to adapt the length of the stand, it is necessary to use a screwdriver or other tool to remove the screw, after which the two parts can be slid relative to each other. Then, the cam is positioned in another space in the toothing, after which the screw is screwed again through the notch in the toothing. By adjusting the length of the bike stand, the length can be adjusted to the wishes of an individual user. This also makes it possible to use the bicycle stand on bicycles which are provided with frames of different sizes. However, a disadvantage of the known bike stand is that one needs a tool to be able to adjust the length of the two parts. Another disadvantage of this is that there is a risk of losing the screw. The object of the invention is to provide a bicycle stand which can be adjusted in length in a simple manner. This object is achieved with the bicycle stand according to the invention in that a first portion comprises a U-shaped profile, which is provided with two legs and a bridge portion connecting the legs, 10 such that at least one leg is provided with a toothing at a side opposite the bridge portion, while at least a second portion is provided with a pawl engaged with the toothing under stress, which ratchet can be disengaged from the toothing by a force contrary to the bias. Such a U-shaped profile can easily be manufactured, so that the toothing can be easily made in longitudinal sides of the legs opposite to the bridge portion for example prior to bending the profile. Following the release of the pawl out of the toothing, the two parts can be slid relative to each other and be adjusted to the desired length. Then, the pawl is engaged with the teeth under stress, after which the two parts are firmly coupled to each other. In this way, a solid connection is ensured between the two parts, while the length can be adapted in a simple way without any tools. An embodiment of the bicycle stand according to the invention is characterized in that the pawl is coupled to an operating arm, a spring being provided between the pawl and the operating arm, spring-loaded from which the pawl is engaged with the teeth under stress. $$ Thanks to the operating arm, it is possible with a relatively weak force to overcome the bias provided by the spring, after which the two parts can be adjusted in length one by report to the other. Another embodiment of the bicycle stand according to the invention is characterized in that the operating arm is located at one side of the second portion opposite the first portion. In this way, the maneuvering arm is easily accessible to a user.
Yet another embodiment of the bicycle stand according to the invention is characterized in that the first part is located in the second part slidably. In this way, the pawl on the second part can easily be engaged with a toothing of the first part slidable through the second part. The invention will be explained in more detail with reference to the drawings, in which: FIG. 1 shows a perspective view of a bicycle stand according to the invention in the folded position, FIG. 2 shows a perspective view of the stand; FIG. 3A shows a cross-section of the bicycle stand shown in FIGS. 1 and 2 in the retracted position, FIG. 3B shows the bicycle stand shown in FIG. 3A in the disengaged position, FIG. FIG. 3C shows the bicycle stand shown in FIG. 3A in the extended position, FIGS. 4A to 4H show various views of a portion of the bicycle stand as represented in FIGS. 1 to 3. In the figures, the parts corresponding numbers are designated by an identical reference number. FIG. 1 represents a bike stand 1 according to the invention which is provided with a first part 2 which is slidably formed in a second part 3. The first part 2 consists of an elongated metal profile 4 bent U-shaped which is provided with a toothing 5 in its central part. At a side opposite to the second part 3, the first part 2 is articulated in a coupling part 6 which can be connected via a coupling plate 7 to tubes 8 of a bicycle frame. (not shown) The second part 3 consists of a metal profile in a sleeve 9 in which the first part 2 is slidably formed. The sheath profile 9 is provided, at an end opposite to the first part 2, a support foot 10. As can be seen clearly in Figures 3A to 3C, the sheath profile 9 is provided, at a side opposite to the support foot 10, a chamber 11. A lever 12 is provided at least partially in the chamber 11, which lever at one end is provided with a pawl 13 intended to come into taken with the toothing 5 and which at a second end opposite the pawl 13 5 is provided with an operating arm 14 located outside the chamber 11. Between the pawl 13 and the actuating arm 14 is formed a spring 15 which on one side is adjacent to a wall 16 of the chamber 11 and on the other side is adjacent to the lever 12.
In the position of the lever 12 shown in Figure 3A, the pawl 13 is engaged with the toothing 5 under the bias of the spring 15. At this stage, the first part 2 is slid at the maximum in the second part 3. In this mutual position of parts 2 and 3, the bike stand 1 has the shortest length that can be obtained. When he wishes to increase the length of the bike stand 1, a user must press the operating arm 14 in the direction indicated by the arrow P1 in opposition to the biasing force of the spring 15, as a result of which the ratchet 13 The second part 3 can then be moved in the direction indicated by the arrow P2 with respect to the U-shaped profile 4 of the first part 2, so that the length of the bike stand 1 is increased. Once the bike stand 1 has reached the desired length, the user releases the operating arm 14. Under the effect of the spring 15, the pawl 13 will then be displaced towards the toothing 5, so that the ratchet will engage with another part of the toothing 5. If the pawl 13 does not engage in a notch of the toothing 5, the user must move the second part 3 in the direction indicated by the arrow P2 or in the direction contrary until the pawl 13 comes firmly in engagement with the toothing. The second part 3 will then occupy for example the position shown in Figure 3C relative to the first part 2. The metal profile 4 is preferably made of flat sheet in which the toothing is formed by stamping. Then, the flat sheet is bent to form two legs 17 and a bridge portion 18 connecting the legs 17. The legs 17 comprise the teeth 5 at their side opposite the bridge portion 18.15
