Abstract

The stepladder has a front part with retractable feet (1) blocked by cotters (5) which traverse the poles (A, B) and the feet by sliding from the height of a step through openings (8). The back part has a fixed upper part and a moveable lower part (2), and the cotters are retained by small chains (6). The part (2) slides in the fixed part and is blocked by bolts (3) pushed by a central spring (4). The bolts traverse the fixed and movable parts through the openings (9), of the part (2), for adjusting the height on each side according to the number of steps to be spanned.

  The present invention relates to a device for performing household work in a straight staircase or quarter turn left or right.

  At present these tasks are accomplished, more or less dangerously with the help of: a chair in balance, a stool under which is placed a board held by a clamp at the level of a foot or the contest of a third person.

  The device according to the invention overcomes these disadvantages.

  It is a stepladder with 4 steps + the plateau.

  It has several adjustable parts: - a front part comprising the steps, retractable feet0re the height of a march from 18 to 19 cms to work in a quarter-turn staircase right or left.

  - At the rear, the support part of the stool, itself divided into two: an upper fixed part and a lower movable part (2), the latter sliding in the upper part and allows the execution of a only work on one, two or even three steps.

  - 2 - 2889718 This foot slides in the uprights A or B, it is pulled upwards by a spring (7) fixed inside the upright A or B; when the foot is out (a quarter turn left or right), it is held by a key (5) itself retained by a chain (6) attached to the amount A or B. This key passes through the amount A or B in all its thickness as well as the inner sliding part, in order to keep the foot out of the desired side of the staircase.

  Figure (4) shows the rear part of the MODULAR THREAT STAIR, it represents the lower part (2) which slides in the upper part, with the possibility of adjusting to different heights (three possibilities) according to the staircase which presents itself so as to keep the plateau of the last step always perfectly horizontal.

  Figure (5) shows the sliding lower part blocked by the action of 2 locks (3); these have a rectilinear displacement movement opposite and pushed by a central spring (4).

  The locks (3) penetrate, each on their own, into the parallel rear uprights of the step ladder (top and bottom sliding so as to lock the device to the desired height).

  In the figure (6) the locks (3) are pulled with one hand towards the center, they compress a central spring (4) and leave the lower sliding part (2) free, so as to be able to adjust the height according to the number stairs of the es-calier; the locks (4) are placed at 7.5 cm from the bottom of the upper part (Figures 5 and 6) on a stepladder of this type (5 steps).

  At the rear, the sliding portion (2), Figures (7) and (8), is fully retracted allowing work safely on a height of three steps and keeping the top plate completely horizontal.

  The device can be extended to different 65 stools higher or lower.

  This described device is applied on a domestic ladder of 5 steps, the most common in households and lighter than a ladder, easier to store, cheaper to buy than a ladder; it can be stored in a closet or positioned in narrow stairs of low ceiling It can be used in a house or a duplex apartment; in addition, when the retractable 2 feet (1) and (2) are retracted and the sliding lower part comes out, the MODULAR THREADED ESCABE performs the same functions as a normal step ladder on flat ground.
